Hort Tours

Second Tuesday of the Month, April-November, 12pm-1pm

Gardener Steph will take you on a tour through Mad. Sq. Park’s gardens during our lunchtime Hort Tours program. Themes include our current blooms, collection plantings, and seasonal displays. This program is free and open to all, rain or shine.

Full Moon Hort Tours

Night of the Full Moon, 8pm-9pm

Tour the gardens in the full moon light with Gardner Steph. Discover new perspectives of our evening animal and plant life as you take a lantern-illuminated stroll around our plantings. This program is free and open to all, rain or shine.

Draw your Park

From 5pm-7pm

Spend the evening drawing in the Park. Explore your artistic style with our teaching artists who will share their techniques and offer guidance upon your request. Materials are provided and all ages are welcome. Location will vary. This program is free and open to all, rain or shine.

Jane’s Walk in the Park

May 5 at 12pm, 1:30pm, and 3pm

Join us for Jane’s Walk in the Park. Urban activist Jane Jacobs lends her name to these much loved neighborhood events that promote dialogue and learning within urban planning. We are hosting three Jane’s Walks this year, each with a different theme:

12pm – The first walk will be led by Madison Square Park’s Executive Director Keats Myer, and will explore the preservation and stewardship of our historic Park.

1:30pm – Mad. Sq. Park’s Gardener Steph will lead a horticultural walk, exploring the natural splendor of the Park.

3pm – Miriam Berman will lead the ‘Jane Jacobs Tour’ and will explore Jane’s relationship to Mad. Sq. Park. and what her perspective might be on the park today.

Mad. Sq. Hort Day: Hydrangea Hurrah

June 24, 12pm-3pm

Madison Square Park Conservancy is excited to present our second Mad. Sq. Hort Day celebrating our prized Hydrangeas. Join us for a family friendly event that will celebrate the Park’s summer blooms with a host of free and fun activities, including guest speakers, park tours, floral demos, a kids zone with games, musical entertainment, and complimentary Hydrangea tea. This program is free and open to all, rain or shine.

 

Leaf Fest

November 18, 12pm-3pm

Join us for a neighborly afternoon of leaf pile jumping, raking, live music, and cider donuts, all while celebrating the trees in Mad. Sq. Park! Cancelled if rain.
