Arbor Day | April 27th, All Day
Celebrate Arbor Day with Madison Square Park’s newly certified arboretum and a day of free programming where you can learn all about MSPC’s favorite trees—some of which are over 165 years old! Start the day with Gardener Steph as she leads a tour of the Park’s trees. Her 10am tour begins at the Southern Fountain. Throughout the day, the fountain will also be home to fun and interactive tree-themed activities presented by our partners and MSPC staff members. At 12:30pm, stop by the Reflecting Pool, where urban arborist Bill Logan will speak about the history of Madison Square Park’s trees. Stick around as Story Laurie shares engaging tree tales for the whole family from 1-2pm.

Lunchtime Poetry with The New School’s Creative Writing MFA Program
Join us for a lunchtime series of programs that will also serve to highlight the connection between horticulture and poetry. Students from The New School’s Creative Writing MFA Program will present four interactive lunchtime programs. Each lunchtime activity will focus on a different form of poetry, including list poems, haikus, love spells, and the writing of Walt Whitman. Lunchtime Poetry will be held at various locations throughout the Park. Look for the Mad. Sq. Hort banner marking the program’s location.
