Arbor Day Events

Come celebrate Arbor Day with Madison Square Park’s trees this Friday, April 28. We have prepared a full day of free programming where you can learn more about our favorite trees—some of which are over 165 years old! We will also discuss our plans for the future of Madison Square Park’s tree canopy.

Arbor Day Activities:
Take yourself on a tour of the newest trees in the Park, with our Arbor Day Self-Guided Tour. All day, we’ll have maps on-hand that give information and lead you to our newly planted trees, which will be adorned with colorful garlands to help you spot them.

At 1pm, join us for Mad. Sq. Park’s official Arbor Day Tree Tour led by Gardener Steph, who will share interesting facts on our newest trees and our most venerable specimens—and all the trees in-between. The tour begins at the Southern fountain.

At 5pm we are throwing a celebratory birthday party for our newest tree, the Katsura! Stop by for a piece of cake and stay to learn how Madison Square Park Conservancy is thinking about the future of our tree canopy.

We hope you’ll join us, rain or shine!
