Police Officer Moira Ann Smith Playground

The Madison Square Park playground was dedicated to NYPD Officer Moira Ann Smith on March 10, 2012. Officer Smith was one of the many officers and emergency responders who answered the call of duty and selflessly gave their lives in order to save others on September 11, 2001. As a member of the 13th Precinct, Officer Smith served Madison Square Park and the surrounding neighborhood and we pay tribute to NYPD’s only fallen female officer.

Our award-winning playground is open year-round from 7am to dusk.

Entrances are located just inside the park at Madison Avenue and 25th and 26th Streets.

Mad. Play
Madison Square Park Conservancy’s Playground Committee, Mad. Play, is a group of dedicated neighbors and stakeholders, who support the playground initiatives of Madison Square Park Conservancy, and the surrounding community.

The Mad. Play committee members are tasked with helping the Conservancy meet a range of needs for the playground and Park by representing, advocating for, and balancing the community’s preferences and needs through collecting and analyzing data from constituent input, and researching and reporting on potential solutions.
