Party in the Park 2019 Recap

THIS PAGE IS ABOUT A PAST EVENT

On Monday, April 2nd, more than 400 of Mad. Sq. Park’s friends and neighbors attended Party in the Park, the Conservancy’s annual spring gala. We honored Martin Puryear, Mad. Sq. Artist and U.S. Representative, 58th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, and celebrated U.S. Pavilion Biennale Arte 2019 designers Tod Williams and Billie Tsien, outreach partner Tom Cahill of Studio in a School, and Commissioner and Mad. Sq. Art Senior Curator Brooke Kamin Rapaport. Attendees and supporters helped raise $1.25 million to support the Conservancy’s mission to steward the Park as a public green oasis for our community.

Guests were treated to cocktails around the Southern Fountain, and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres prepared by Abel Rodriguez of Tarallucci e Vino. Guests were then treated to a once-in-a-lifetime dinner prepared by Jorge Espinoza of Scarpetta, Matthew Spivey of Maialino, and Katia Delogu of Eataly, making the evening deliciously unforgettable.

The Park’s transformed Oval Lawn hosted a lively evening of food, drink, and conversation. Remarks were made by Sheila Kearney Davidson, Board Chair, Madison Square Park Conservancy Board of Trustees; Robert T. Lapidus, Trustee, Party in the Park Co-Chair; Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver, Department of Parks and Recreation; Madison Square Park Conservancy’s Executive Director, Keats Myer; and Ron Pizzuti, Chair of the Mad. Sq. Art Committee. The presenters spoke of the Park’s public art and Agnes Gund, Party in the Park Co-Chair, spoke and introduced our illustrious honoree Maritn Puryear, Mad. Sq. Artist and U.S. Representative, Biennale Arte 2019. Each speaker offered praises to the Park and the Mad. Sq. Art program. The evening culminated in an exciting live auction and paddle raise led by Christie’s auctioneer, Robbie Gordy.
