Spring Kids Fest THIS SATURDAY!

Spring Kids Fest is this SATURDAY, May 17th! Join us in Madison Square Park with our friends at Time Out New York Kids for a day of free fun for the little ones from 10:30AM-1:30PM. We’re presenting a slew of festivities including live music and performances, arts and crafts, games, snacks, storytelling, and so much more.

The main stage located on the southern end of the park will feature a variety of performances. Make sure to check out Field Station: Dinosaurs at 11AM, Story Pirates at 12PM, and Mil’s Trills closing out the southern stage with a rockin’ dance party at 1PM. DJ KC of Brunch Baby, Brunch will be our personal DJ for the day, keeping the south side alive and moving between stage performances. Finally, Kids Fest wouldn’t be complete without our favorite northern end performers, Songs for Seeds, at 10:30AM, 11:30AM and 12:30PM.

Pop by the crafts tent on the north side of the Oval Lawn and experience tons of wonderful activities. Taro’s Origami Studio is presenting a fun paper folding activity, create a bug collage with Let’s Gogh Art NYC, and craft marigold necklaces with The Rubin Museum of Art. Fun tabletop activities will be presented by our neighbors at MoMath and Apple Seeds, while the Children’s Museum of Arts are bringing a community painting project, and the Children’s Museum of Manhattan will show us how to make a musical note collage. Last but not least, the Girl Scouts of Greater New York are teaching environmental awareness with a door hanger project.

For fun and play, head over to the games section on the Oval Lawn. We have lots of game options for children of all ages, including our soon-to-be neighbors, Lego and they’re sharing miniature Lego sets of some of our favorite animals. Toss a ring at the infamous Boylan’s Ring Toss presented by Hill Country Chicken, and join yet another one of our great neighbors, The Montessori of FlatironlSoHo, for bubble play fun. Try out a washer toss game with our friends at City MD.

More games are happening with Gate Hill Day Camp, and they’re bringing a gaga pit! Karma Kids Yoga is in for the long stretch, and proving fun moves are good for our health. Don’t forget to jump, jog, skip and play at the Boy Scouts of America obstacle course along the fence of the Oval Lawn.

This year we’re bringing festival goers two snack stations; one in the northern end of the park and one in the southern end. They’re both equally enticing and filled with delicious eats, drinks, and water from Nestle Pure Life. Quench your thirst after roaming tent to tent with Trader Joe’s lemonade and fill your belly with GoGo squeeZ fruit pouches and Popchips at the south end snack station. The northern snack station, located around the reflecting pool, will have Rita’s Italian Ice presenting a variety of flavors, plus our neighbors at Eataly will share some savory nibbles.

We’re happy to announce Spring Kids Fest is an official stop for Children’s Book Week! Make sure to drop by the books tent for storytelling sessions with Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group featuring Bad Kitty at 11:30AM, and DiMenna Children’s History Musuem‘s reading of Madeline at 12:30PM. Along with storytelling, our partners will present hands-on activities for children of all ages. The books tent will be located on the southern gravel adjacent to movies and snack station.

Plus face painting and a packed movies tent with Museum of the Moving Image showing how to craft old fashioned thaumatropes, a special guest from Dreamworks’ How to Train Your Dragon 2, and a lesson or two on film making with Brooklyn Film Festival kidsfilmfest.

This is our favorite way to kick off our free season of kids programming and we can’t wait to see everyone in Mad. Sq. Park on Saturday!
