Family Art Workshop with Alison Saar

Budding artists came out to our last Family Art Workshop of the year to decorate treasure boxes with images of the four seasons. After coloring the pictures of spring, summer, fall and winter, the children embellished their boxes with all kinds of goodies like felt and glitter. This project was inspired by Alison Saar’s Feallan and Fallow, now on exhibit at the Park. So we were especially thrilled and fortunate to have Alison Saar join us at the Family Art Workshop to talk to curious kids (and their adults) about her work! Alison shared interesting facts about her six sculptures; for example, the bases of the Treesouls are actual tree branches covered in metal.

Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, and other caregivers who value the role of art in their children’s lives. We were very impressed by your little ones’ creations! And a special thank you to Alison Saar, who shared her passion for the arts with the next generation of artists.
