Regina Carter’s ‘Reverse Thread’ Recap

Regina Carter’s “Reverse Thread” took us to another level of jazz violin music. Infusing the infectious tones of the violin with the kora, a traditional African string instrument, and the accordion, Carter and her band brought us a new side of jazz that we had never heard before. The band played songs from various cultures that enlivened the crowd, including songs inspired by Puerto Rico, Africa and Louisiana. By the end of the show, Carter and her band received a standing ovation from much of the audience and went on to play an encore that ended the beautiful summer night perfectly.
