This fall has been a wet, but pretty time in Madison Square Park. The fall planting that our gardeners designed consists of many non-traditional autumn display plants. Several purple and pink fountain grasses add some architectural movement and sway to the south side of the park, with the fountain urns being photographed more often than we’ve ever noticed. The Worth Square planting is particularly lovely, and delicious too, consisting of a mix of beautiful edible and ornamental plants.
Friday, October 21st, we had 20 volunteers from Credit Suisse join us in planting 4,200 crocus bulbs throughout the park, working around the squirrels as they went. Crocuses are among the first flowers to bloom in the spring, and when they do, these colorful flowers will undoubtedly catch your eye! Next up is our Tulip planting, which will certainly be a big hit in spring 2012.
Check out our volunteers in action!
