It was a beautiful Saturday and The Studio Series had the absolute pleasure of bringing the musical talent of Rory Block and The Heritage Blues Trio to the Mad. Sq. Music stage. Chaney Sims, Bill Sims Jr. and Junior Mack of The Heritage Blues Trio captivated us with the spirit of blues traditions and their distinct lyrical harmonies. Thank you to the entire trio for giving us a lesson in traditional gospel blues. Headlining our afternoon show was the legendary Rory Block, and what an incredible performance she gave! She is truly a one-woman talent with a backbone in the delta blues. She told numerous stories of her youth in Manhattan, lessons and travels, and even brought her friend Woody Mann to the stage for her closing song. Thank you Rory Block for sharing your spirit with us.
