Madison Square Park Conservancy is responsible for the maintenance of the park’s lawns which are in the process of spring reseeding. While the grass is establishing now, visitors should expect the majority of lawns to be ready for use in late May.  Lawns are open daily for public use starting at 10 AM through 5 PM, weather permitting. Lawns are closed on Parade Days.  Learn more about park hours and rules by visiting our FAQ page.

Fall Scavenger Hunt

DSC 0013

As the leaves change and creatures begin to prepare for hibernation, we document the vital role each fall species has on our ecosystem. Join us in exploring the park’s plants and wildlife by participating in our Fall Scavenger Hunt. From birds to bees, flowers to fungi, every observation made will help us identify what’s living in and around your park. Record your findings by taking a photo and sharing it on the free iNaturalist app. With your help, we can keep the park healthy and green for generations to come.

Learn more about iNaturalist here, or download a printable worksheet to get started here.

Thank you to our sustainability sponsors The New York EDITION and Amazon for their support.
