On Saturday, September 29th, the weather was overcast but that didn’t stop the kiddies and families from joining us for Mad. Sq. Kids’ fourth Family Art Workshop of the year. The Workshop featured BUCKYBALL, Mad. Sq. Art’s upcoming monumental, 30-foot tall sculpture by renowned light installation artist Leo Villareal. Families gathered for the interactive activity that allowed park visitors big and small to create their own interlocking, luminescent puzzles which emulated the hexagon and pentagon shapes that will be found in the sculpture. The kids – and adults – were especially curious and excited about the exhibition and couldn’t wait to visit the park again when BUCKYBALL is on view to the public from October 25, 2012 – February 1, 2013. Merging science, geometry, and art, it was the perfect way to spend a fun and educational Saturday!
